Max, Russel is an old timer and has probably more experience than most people posting on this thread, at least in terms of years. like many old-timers he originally underestimated the durability of this mania and turned bearish too early. in the interview he was referring to an earlier Dow theory signal that turned out to be a failed signal in the end. now however, with the breakdown in the a/d line and other signs of technical deterioration he is naturally more confident that the bear has finally arrived. i have recently read one of his weekly Dow theory newsletters and must say it's not a dogmatic rag like you would expect from a true perma bear, so i guess he should be taken seriously.

regards,

hb

Max, I'm an oldtimer also and have a lot of respect for Russell and his work. Remember back in 1973 and 74 when I was just getting into investments with real dollars and he kept us out until, you guessed, he called the end of the bear.
