Sun,

My answer (guess) for the homework assignment is Novartis. The company makes a smoking cessation gum in Denmark called Nicotinell. Needless to say, this company has a lot of marketing muscle and is ready to take Smith-Kline Beecham on in the smoking cessation market. It is also my belief that the joint venture with GumTech will market nicotine gum as a nicotine delivery system (not smoking cessation). This is a huge opportunity, IMO.

nicotinell.de Can you read Danish? lol

Here is a description of the company that I found on the Internet. pharma.us.novartis.com

Novartis is a world leader in Life Sciences with core businesses in Healthcare, Agribusiness, and Consumer Health (Nutrition and Self-Medication). In 1998 Novartis Group sales were $21.8 billion, of which $12 billion were in Healthcare, $5.8 billion in Agribusiness, and $4 billion in Consumer Health. The group annually invests more than $2.6 billion in research and development. Headquartered in Basel, Switzerland, Novartis group companies employ about 82,000 people and operate in over 140 countries around the world.

You made a nice buy on the stock at 11 3/8 today. There is chart support between 11 and 11 1/4, and the buyers were stacked up there on Level II today. I think the stock did very well today given the weakness yesterday and overall weak market today.
