Hi Alan,

Interesting product. It offers a relatively cheap alternative to having to go with a new board, RAM, and CPU.

I doubt it's as powerful as a true Intel 233MMX, it sounds relatively hassle-free.

Might as well give it a try and see what happens. One thing is for sure though, don't expect good game performance without a solid video card. Maybe you could try finding a cheap Voodoo II add-on card that would REALLY boost graphics performance for your son. (roughly $75.00).

Alan, I'm not an expert, but I heard that occasionally "overdrive" processors can conflict w/ the motherboard. I know that both Gateway and Dell systems from a couple years ago experienced these problems when the computer lab at the college I used to attend tried to upgrade them.

Lastly, as Richard mentioned, manufacturers occasionally embellish a bit on the "true" speed of the processors. Therefore an INTC product may be preferrable. You also may wish to try the following site: pricewatch.com

Best of luck...hope your son enjoys his system.

Regards,
Hasan
