This will not stop the principal problem with software piracy. Which is me copying my CD to my hard drive and giving the CD to my friend to do the same.

Software that requires the CD in the drive is a PAIN IN THE ASS, and would likely be a HUGE sticking point for a software buyer. Thus I would not fall in love with diskguard.

This technology is a solution to big companies who sell abroad, where pirate copying and selling bogus CD-ROM runs rampant. Provided they can get those kinds of deals without someone else grabbing their turf in a more creative way, they can make a buck or two.

Individualistic solutions to Piracy are likely to be more effective than global solutions thus this is going to be a competitive market.

It is not likely to be a total solution. As for music and the like, the end result will be the same as always. You get what you pay for. And pennies versus bucks in the third world makes a big difference as to what the third world buyer will accept in terms of quality.

Just some thoughts.
