"Intel's Online Business Services Division next Tuesday will cut the ribbon on the first of its data centers and give an update on its Internet Data Services business strategy. "

Intel's Online Business Services Division next Tuesday will cut the ribbon on the first of its data centers and give an update on its Internet Data Services business strategy. Intel's first hosting farm will be located in Santa Clara, Calif. The company said at its analyst conference in April that it would open the first of what it expects to be many server farms by late September.

Intel executives declined to comment on next week's briefing.

VARs and ISPs are expected to have an opportunit to resell the hosting service, Intel executives said when the plans were first released last spring.

Intel has made no secret of its interest in shifting to the Internet services market, but some analysts are not sure the company is up to the role.

"Putting servers in a room is part of the equation, but so [are] connectivity and bandwidth, and so [are] having applications tested, tuned and certified, being productive, and providing the performance, interaction and experience that customers want," said Greg Blatnick, analyst at Zona Research, a Redwood City, Calif.

Today, a new breed of ASPs are offering hosting services.

concerning intel, rambus and camino.

i have followed the mccomas, cahner's and in stat articles for months. they have had a strong anti rambus bias.

after reading the rmbs yahoo post below, i reread the c-net article (last link) and realize the entire article is attributed to glaskowsky and an unnamed analyst (mccomas?).

i believe this is the same org that initiated the ibm dumps rmbs story around the first of june. 3 days later ibm said they planned to not only use rambus but they will produce rdrams.

This Cnet news is FUD. Not just any old FUD...the most cleverly set up and perfectly timed FUD ever. The timing is obvious, actually too obvious. But cHeck THIS out.Glaskowsky who is quoted as having talked to the Intel guys works for Microdesign Resources. Microdesign is owned by our dear friends Cahners Electronicz Group which also owns In-Stat whose employees include the renowned BERT McCOMAS!!This guy has been dishing dirt forever and you'd think the Rambus truck ran over his mother. This guy should have worked for "Nixon-Dirty Tricks,Inc. Boy am I relieved I thought we actually had a problem!
