Natural gas production rose 0.6 per cent year on year to over 370.79bn cubic metres. Oil production in August totalled 25.2m tonnes, 1.5 per cent more than a year earlier. Primary refining totalled 15.1m tonnes, 8.2 per cent more.

Moscow, 22nd September: Russia's exports of crude oil reached 80.8m tonnes in January-July, according to reports of the State Customs Committee and Russian Statistics Agency.

This is 2.3 per cent up on 1998. The export revenues totalled 6.3bn US dollars, or 0.2 per cent, the agencies said. In July, the country delivered to world markets 10.9m tonnes of oil and raised 1.1bn US dollars.

Exports to CIS market increased by 12 per cent and totalled 12.2m tonnes, as a result of which 0.6bn dollars have been raised. Experts mark a dramatic decrease in the average contract price on these markets compared with the previous year and other foreign markets.

Crude oil exports to the non-CIS world markets reached 68.6m tonnes (5.7bn dollars), 7.3 per cent higher year on year. Crude oil accounted for 16.8 per cent of Russia's exports in January-July 1999, against 15 per cent in 1998.
