Jeff and John: Agree fixed terminals are a future major winner. One question hit me. Is there any way for a fixed terminal to be used as a transmission and receiving station to a satellite by a group of people nearby at separate locations around a town or village? Could this be by wireless (short distance) [WLL or Bluetooth] or wire? Or is this simply not possible or practical for technical or other reasons? Chaz

From recent ING Barings report:

"On the Fixed Side, Ericsson and Qualcomm are expected to produce 15,000 and
5,000 terminals in 1999, respectively. During 2000, Qualcomm is expected to
produce 5000 in the first two quarters before increasing production to 1,000
per month thereafter. During the same timeframe, Ericsson is scheduled to
construct at least 25,000 terminals."
