It's easier to get elected by pandering than it is by convincing voters of the wisdom of the party's principles.

It's even harder when half the party leaders don't believe in those principles either.

Et tu, Brute?<VBG>.....You guys are complaining about the nature of politics, which tends towards compromise and is loathe to get too far ahead of public opinion (because one would lose). Your complaints are understandable, but it goes with the territory of democratic institutions, and is not peculiar to the Republicans.....
