They could give preferred stock as dividend with a return tied to future earnings. They could also blow the shorts out of the water by calling in all certs to issue the dividend to the appropriate owners. There are legal ways to screw the shorts to the wall, the company should learn about them. Having said that, I'm still not so sure that the decline is shorts.

Gary, Why not both. A mild forward split say 5 for 4 or something like that. That would put fast pressure on any shorts.

A non-trading preferred with a Ex. Dividend date well after the demo would keep any shorts out. And be a reward to the share holders that stuck with the company through all this.
