I seem to recall that IDC also had a few "mobile" patents as well. I have to research it more to see what is what. BTW, IMT-2000 is an attempt not only for mobile, but fixed wireless and satellite as well.

DaveMG: And suggest that the US Gov't probably does whatever it does "unwittingly" , the Treasury Dept et al, since lack of wit seems at a premium there. Wit in the intellectual sense of course. But I do suggest that there might be a bit of conversation now and then between the wall street crowd and Treasury for example. On the "media" being "unwitting" - yup - same comment applies. Except the "media" expects free lunches at fine watering holes which you and I are unlikely to provide for them. Best. Chaz
