DARBES,

Intel talk hits tech stocks
BancBoston analyst bearish on Intel, Rambus
...
...
Shares of Intel led the pullback after BancBoston Robertson Stephens analyst Dan Niles said in a research note that Intel (INTC: news, msgs) has suffered about two million order cancellations as PC demand has waned. The stock fell 3 7/8, or 5 percent, to 73 3/4 as volume surged past 10 million shares.

The bearish outlook for Intel follows comments from SG Cowen analyst Drew Peck who on Thursday said that in light of the Taiwan quake, it may be difficult for Intel, or any of the otherPC-dependent companies, to show the explosive upside that he had expected in the fourth quarter. See full story.

Additionally, Niles sliced his rating on Rambus(RMBS: news, msgs) to "long-term attractive" from "buy." Rambus shares tumbled 10, or 11 percent, to 77 1/4.
