Agree with you. This is not a coincidence. Bill writing an
desperate essay in may 1999 about the future of the PC.
Stating he is betting the future of his company.
Is he still alive or what?

Balmer admitting 2 weeks ago Microsoft will shift focus
from the PC to the net. A week later the Goldman & Sachs
$1,5 trillion-report. No Microsoft on the list.
Oracle team up with HWP and introduced their portal strategy.
One week later Balmer tells analist how to value tech
stocks. I can remember that the financial world was pissed
of when Greenspan used the phrase "irrational exuberation".

If Greenspan has no right to comment, I believe it is fair
that for Balmer it is the same story.

We also should remember that Balmer finished his school. The
guy is not stupid. He has a reason for talking the software-
sector down. I still believe lml posting was on target. In
other words, making it more difficult for the smal cash-burning
internet-start up to raise money.

I also believe that Microsoft wants to go shopping to try to
close the gap with Oracle and others who are way ahead on them.

With regards,

Paul
