Y2K seems to be fading as a threat as we get closer to year-end. A recent U.S. senate study sees the likelihood of regional problems but not any catastrophes of national proportions. It sees Y2K as a "bump in the road" that won?t be as serious as Hurricane Floyd.

Hence, I see a low likelihood that there will be a major market reaction in December or early January.

Dow Industrials, One-Year Trading History

Although we are likely to see some minor corrections when there are random disruptions. The industry rated as best prepared was financial services with a 5 star rating. Telecommunications and utilities were rated 4 starts. Then transportation, business and government services were rated 3 stars.

The worst-prepared industries were health care (hospitals and doctors offices) and international.<<<
