Anything I am giving now is JMO also,,,which I don't like. But I am not schooled in any religious apologetics or any history, just what I have seen and what little I have read. My thinking is that now, you may be right. But back then, when the oral word WAS depended on to be accurate, I think the stories were told more often, with more exactness, and almost as training classes. A small example is this passage: Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.. The importance of the spoken word seemed pretty evident.

The "changing story" theory has been bantered and proven for eons BUT. Once the dead sea scrolls were found this argument died !!! First : The idea that the Bible has changed slowly was killed They found copies of Isaiah that were identical to todays. People involved with Holy Writ are the MOST careful people on earth. It is written " If anyone changes the words..." See the last chapter of the Bible. Also there was a theory that the first 40 chapters of Isaiah were written Before Christ and the last of the book written by an unknown after the event Happened.. This would be the best way to explain away the very descriptive prophecies of Christ before His birth !! Guess what they were all there... Check the Facts Man !!
