engineer: I thank you for both answers. The one on BAM/VOD/GTE and on Phone.com and Symbian EPOC.

For the first time I now understand the distinctions and differences re Phone.com and Symbian EPOC and even more importantly what each does. Clear, succinct and helpful. Look forward to Phone.com application running on Symbian EPOC OS in a Q phone/appliance.

(Now if I just knew if WinCE is clunky as some of its detractors claim.)

The Europeans seem to favor EPOC over WinCE.

As always, thanks.

PS Next I need to learn what WAP is. <g>

My understanding is that PalmOS is similarly competitive with EPOC and WinCE. The Q of course has agreements with Palm (to wit, the pdQ phone) and Msft (Wireless Knowledge), so the bases seem to be pretty well covered.

Also second hand info--I understand that EPOC is a pretty elegant solution.

Best,
