Terrapin: OK I'll try to help as best I can, but you need to know that my core holding is Qualcomm, so even though I have respect for Nokia, I am not an expert on Nokia by a long shot. Tero is.

Nokia does manufacture CDMA handsets using its own ASICs under a Qualcomm license.

Nokia can sustain itself without a CDMA-capable phone. But the company has the advantage of having all major technologies in its "bag" so to speak, so manufacturing all of them seems sensible - and that includes CDMA.

NOK is much more than a handset maker.

Sure, no guarantee that the best technology will win. But it doesn't hurt in a horserace to have the fastest horse.

I also have heard glowing reviews of Nokia's management, in sharp contrast to that of Ericsson. But note that Qualcomm's management has a good reputation (in some circles :-) ).

Now, I will step back and let the real Nokia people help you. Tero et al.

Best of luck and good investing.
