Today I was in the area of town that has had tremendous retail growth. The road was the old two lane Route 66 of "Grapes of Wrath" fame and used to be a mile east of town in the 50s. Now it is 8 lanes in some areas and well within town.

On the line between lanes 2 and 3 southbound was a pigeon that had been hit and couldn't walk or fly. The poor bastard was moving his head back and forth away from the cars trying to stay alive long enough for the pigeon fairy to loft him back into the air.

Now sooner or later some southbound semi will smash him into a pavement poultice. Pureed pigeon.

They say that some days you're the statue and some days you're the pigeon. I have the feeling that the last two days I got to be the pigeon and guess which one.
