One of the things I have realized about AOL is that it is very difficult for individuals to time this stock since the big boys control this very well. After the S&P inclusion in Jan 99, everyone expected it to go up and probably bought calls. Guess what, the stock did not budge, calls expire worthless. In Feb 99-March99, the stock doubles burning the shorts. Now, with all the pessimism built up a lot of people must have shorted this in the 90s and 80s. Guess what they will be burnt bif time. I will not be surprised if this runs to 125-130 in the next few weeks. I guess the trick for an individual investor (who has the stomach for the volatility) is to not try and time this. Stay put - good companies will reward you. On a day like today, the market was tanking and AOL was going up like crazy. Back in early 99, the other techs were relatively quiet - even the other Inets. But boy did AOL run. It seldom follows other stocks. The other Inets have been rallying for the past few weeks. But aol was going down. So, it does not even follow the other Inets.
