I love this lace of the other shoe:

?Our aspirations are not unique in this area,? Microsoft Vice President Brad Chase said as his company unveiled its new, improved Internet strategy on Thursday.

Corporate hype translation: the best we can come up with is a "me-too" strategy that copies the trailing edge of Sun's vision, even though we don't really have any substance to it yet. Period.

That's what ol' Brad is saying. Isn't it kinda funny how M$ shocks everybody by abandoning its dogged commitment to the PC within days of the SunRay announcement, announcing the NC device "Web Companion" that they so roundly ridiculed for so long? Well, I guess a billionaire's got a right to change his mind now and then.

Maybe "other shoe" is not the right image to use in this case. I can't put my finger on the right one, but things like "elephant droppings" keep popping into my head.
