Mohan:
terminating AngloIndian nomination in Lokh Sabah
I have known a few angloIndians during my college days. We had an Angloindian professor, who was most admired by the students and me. I always had good feelings towards AngloIndians, Muslims and other minorities in my college days. I remember that the British gave the AngloIndians some special favors such as extensive employment opportunities in the Indian Railways.
This termination of nomination could have been based on the fact that there are very few AngloIndians in the country. Their numbers dwindled esp among the young, because of immigration to west, US and Australia.

You have given me a lot information in your post. I have to print it and leisurely read it before I offer an opinion or even to understand it.

Anyway what is up with the recommendation of banning 'Anglo Indians'

Nobody is banning Anglo Indians, Mohan. The recommendation is to abolish the Anglo Indian quota in parliament. This quota is filled by nomination from the GoI and not through elections.

I am entirely in support of this. All members of parliament should be freely elected. By the same token I am also against reservation of seats in the parliament for any particular section such as SC/ST's or women.

And I say this as a person who does support reservations in government provided education and government jobs.
