If I remember correctly, GZ went long October 8 and called the bottom perfectly.

At that time in '98 I was not in the market on the way down, I was out of the country... in fact, when I returned, I bought the bottom of the SP's at 952.50 in the futures at that time and my trade was posted on the futures thread in real time back then... I had a lengthy series of posts at that time with Tom Trader, host of that thread, about my reasons for buying when I did in '98..... I was right, but I easily could have been wrong.....<g> I've been long all this past week and buying all the way down... I'm certainly no guru, I'm just posting my opinion and sharing some of my trading strategies with fellow posters.....

You are very right about the fallacy of using simple trend lines. I'm not using a simple trend line, in fact it's not a trend line in the way you might think..... Of course, I could be wrong here.. in no way am I intending on pronouncing to the world that I know anything for certain... my work tells me that the ideal time for a low was last Thursday or Friday... I'm just trading my indicators.....

My Best Regards.
