i have heard that vitesse semiconducter (vtss)has some outstanding technology. Vitesse Semiconductor Corp designs, develops, manufactures and markets technologically advanced digital integrated circuits. The company's H-GaAs technology provides significant advantages over silicon-based integrated circuits. Its products address the needs of high-performance system providers by providing high speed, complexity & low power dissipation. Vitesse's telecommunications products (about 50% of sales) are primarily for SONET/SDH applications. For data communications, it makes a wide variety of products used for the transmission and reception of data over a fiber optic network. For the Automated Test Equipment industry, Vitesse supplies a variety of gate arrays and custom products. Some major customers are Alcatel, Cisco, Ericsson, Fujitsu, IBM, Lucent, NEC and Seagate. earnings per share .06 .21 .43 .69 1999 .90 2000 1.28 2001 1.72 est for y/e sep 2001 of course like quality companies of this type, it is not cheap. but neither is cisco. approximately $84. regards
