This is a great example of Gemstar's value chain. In the press release below, notice that Phillips uses Guide Plus+ Gold as a feature that makes it easier for them to sell the television. Guide Plus+ Gold is currently Gemstar's most advanced interactive program guide. I don't know if the V chip mentioned is Gemstar's V chip, an advanced version of the vanilla V chip.
