(NasdaqNM:INTC - news) 820 chipset. Rambus was down at 63-1/2 on the Instinet electronic broker system from a Friday close of 71-2/16. The company said Monday it was working to resolve several problems with Intel and leading personal computer makers on the upcoming Intel 820 memory chips using Rambus technology. Rambus shares dropped more than $16 Friday amid concern about the long-awaited chips. Morgan Stanley Dean Witter cut its rating on Rambus to outperform from strong buy. Asarco Inc. (NYSE:AR - news) was up at 26 from a close of 23-10/16 after the copper miner opened the door to a possible sale of the company as its friendly deal with Cyprus Amax Minerals Co. (NYSE:CYM - news) appeared on the verge of unraveling. Mexico mining and rail company Grupo Mexico has announced an unsolicited $1.03 billion cash bid for Asarco. The bid topped a $983 million hostile cash-and-stock bid by rival copper producer Phelps Dodge Corp. (NYSE:PD - news).
