Steven seems a nice enough fellow to give you a pass on that one but your remark sounds an awful lot like, only blondes (western women, perhaps) can be "babes." Not accusing you of racism (possibly just a thoughtless remark). Not to worry, such talk would hardly disqualify you from a diplomatic posting where finding new ways to put down the stupid and ungrateful locals is often high art.
