V-why are you assuming the time between now and launch will not be filled with cumulative appearances by Hugh and others etc on other shows. Its about building brand step by step. Obvious to me is the fact the IStyle launch will coincide with the Christmas shopping season. That's your maximum impact assuming you actually are interested in the business you are launching. It will be targeted for high end commerce..

Obvious to anybody paying real attention is the fact that there will be a calculated investment relations campaign to explain the new Ampex. I anticipate seeing real evidence of that in November.

Pretty tough to launch Executive Branch during the summer hiatus which is finished up. Much better to launch during the hot and heavy election period and when the executive branch gets visible and busy.

This is only what experts say

"Internet marketing, in general, I don't think is very good," says Fred Siegel, a veteran marketer formerly with McCann-Erickson, QVC and Ketchum Advertising who is now senior VP of marketing for ExciteAtHome. "The game seems to be not to build your brand, but rather to get your name out. There seems to be some general confusion about what a brand is and what a logo is."

After five years of Web site advertising, which has ranged from the very good to the very bad, have we really learned anything about driving eyeballs to Web sites? Legendary marketing consultant Jack Trout, author of numerous books on the topic, including The 22 Immutable Laws of Marketing, gives the entire category a grade of D. "There is no differentiation," he says, "and it's too cute." His biggest beef: "A lot of the advertising I see is aimed more at Wall Street than at anybody else."

First the size of this market( direct marketing is 80 BILLION) means plenty of room for multiple competitors. However, I think our competitors are more worried about how many of the top 20 advertisers Marione has signed up. For me I hope our competitors waste their dough on ineffective advertising. I rather get the check than write it....
