NHP and Crew,

Hopefully some good news. After the initial quake the UMC website was down. I know this for a fact because I tried to log on several times that day. It has been up during the remainder of the week and weekend suggesting that the power outage is not ongoing.

They are planning an update tomorrow...

I think at this time we are all assuming the worst until we are reassured. The issue at hand is the length of the delay before wafers will come rolling off the fab line. I would like to hear whether capacity can be increased at unaffected fabs in Japan. Let's hope that there had been some discussion earlier in the summer with some fabs outside Taiwan regarding raw wafer supply. Eli hinted at this when he told us that there was a shortage of MMC cards for mp3 player OEM's. Perhaps they had some remediation in place prior to the quake.
