Jeff, My point is that not that the analyst is right or wrong, but that Cisco chastises them when his numbers come in lower than their guidance. While nary a peep is heard about analysts whose numbers are in the ozone above the Cisco guidance.

The analyst did his homework, and that is what has CSCO's feathers ruffled. CSCO is selling routers to enterprises, and calling that an invasion of the carrier market. In many of the hottest areas of data com, CSCO plays second fiddle to LU and NT. Your example of carrier-class ATM is one, optical equipment is another. CSCO is trying to delude its investors into thinking that the data com world is coming to them. The reality is that CSCO is attempting to move into a foreign, hostile territory, i.e. selling to carriers. LU and NT are already tight with these companies. The jury is still out on CSCO.
