Thanks for the post Andrew! A lot of great stuff in there.

RE:PAD limiting nature of IC

Flip Chip packaging solves this problem, but it is still a small percentage of the total packaging market. The major MPU and ASIC manufacturers do use it though.

Can any of you fathom why CYMI got dumped on during this correction, along with every other equipment company, with the exception of ASML?

Nope, can't figure it out, except that Cymer is rather illiquid compared to the bigger names. So when people get scared about the market or equipment sector, even small trades can move this stock down in a hurry. Should be an advantage on the next up move though. I like to watch Cymer's relative performance to the sector through this guy's weekly postings on the FSII thread.

BTW, institutional ownership of Cymer is close to the 62% level now after having been close to 10%(I believe I saw 13% at one point, but am not positive about that) in the darker days of last year.

Thanks again for the informative and thoughtful post. It's always a pleasure to hear from you.

Bob

PS. I printed your post and you might owe me some cash for paper. <G>

HI AV,
I believe the second generation 300 mm asml scanners will bring the wph back to the norm (Atlas)assuming higher power laser and/or more sensitive resists are available.

You got about 200k times better price on the early UTEKS (LOL)at 1$!

Any visibility on competitor laser in production? This thread does not believe hangovers follow overindulgence. My sources indicate production (vol) are occurring in at least 2 companies in asia.
Welcome back

To All Readers:

My apologies for all of the mistakes in my long response to Robert. I was cutting and pasting the message as part of a commentary in today's newsletter, and noticed more typos and grammatical errors that I ever thought possible from me. Either my keyboard is failing me or I was not functioning on all batteries yesterday. I usually am far more articulate and far more adept in both "spelling and grammar."<GGG>
