Mark,

Here is the verse within a context I have been using.

"Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness."

This is someone that by lifting their curse to heaven they imply more power to their curse. Say something like "By God you will do this or that or I wil....(whatever) It is the same with a promise. In truth Jesus says : " I tell you, Do not swear at all: either by heaven, for it is God's throne; or by the earth, for it is his footstool; or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the Great King. And do not swear by your head, for you cannot make even one hair white or black. Simply let your 'Yes' be 'Yes,' and your 'No,' 'No'; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.

Remember a post or two back I said Jesus calls us to a higher calling? there is a good example. see that? """""anything beyond this comes from the evil one"""""

Not every single action we do and take is a testimonial to God

I disagree. I think exactly everything we do IS a testimonial to God.
Col. 3: 17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Can I thank Him for my thievery? Can I thank him for my adultery? etc etc ...If I cannot.... I better not be ranking my sin in order of preference before the Father.

There are those who hate Christianity and call their hatred an all-embracing love for all religions.
