Pardon my ignorance, but tell me which conference you are talking about?

TraderAlan:

There's only one thing that will remain a constant:
The market must constantly move up and down to find sellers and buyers or it will stagnate and die.

Trading methods and styles are the variables.

Daytradingexpo RIP

Reporters everywhere today interviewing the heavyweights and lightweights. No confidence on the spin of their articles as, after all, day trading is just the current aberration in American culture and evidence of the underlying decadence in society (OK I'll let it go for now <g>).

Quiet and focused day. Overheard 2 Ontario Police considering their own potential trading skills and ready to take the plunge. Beats stopping another psychotic day trader from going on a rampage.

Tony Oz, what a great guy and trader. Also a party animal and author. The newbies loved him and his seminars are based in his sincerity. Buy his book. He has the "right stuff".

Spent time with PAT. Humble and knowledgeable. We agree what's going to happen this week but it's a secret so we can't tell you.

Can't get over the "Booth Babes" selling the day trading arts. Big bosoms and tight derrierres are the ticket in moving L2 material these days. A few days ago, who would have imagined GSCO and NITE being pushed by sex. Must be the new millenium.

Oz (not Tony, the SI one) is the guy you want to hang with when need both decadence and centering. The best of the Lone Star State and a great drinking partner.

Newbies everywhere. Souls just discovering "Trading for a Living" and EBAY. Most will be gone in a year. The overwhelming message of the Expo is the seriousness of the pursuit and the competition for survival. As in Highlander, there can be only Some.

Beginning or End? Some pros I talked to believe this is the peak. Others feel this is the infancy. The bottom line is that the markets will dictate the future of the DT phenomenon. A prolonged bear market will likely kill the art as most "traders" can't deal with the short side. The urge to momentum chasing is so strong most are limited to this strategy. But a core of new pros will kick the asses of the old crusties and form the base of the inside knowledge for the next generation.
