Exabyte is plenty controversial. They've lost alot of employees and performed so poorly, many people in Boulder are dubious about them getting M2 out in time. But if you talk to the company now, they don't seem to have a quiet period with respect to M2 and they'll tell you how confident they are and that they expect revenue shipments starting mid-November. In fact, within a few days they'll be able to tell you if the new ASIC works.
With M2 specs superior to SDLT and EXBT valued at a small fraction of DSS, the company looks very cheap. I suspect their libraries alone could be worth the company's market cap.
I just bought a bunch at $4 Thursday and Friday but Friday afternoon's rise raises the ante and the risk level if M2 is delayed. -Z
