i'm glad something worked, donald. <g3>

my screens used to hang also (w/win95) until i installed norton utilities on my pc's. in fact, when i'm installing something now and have all my norton stuff shut off so it won't interfere with the install, and i go to reboot, it will often hang at the 'please wait while windows shuts down' screen. i know why though, because i have norton turned off.

it's always something, huh?

:)

I just spent over 1 1/2 with HP trying to install a 6200 scanjet.
1st - the software wouldn't install.
2nd - the computer couldn't find the USB port.

The end result was we got the software installed using some strange Win98 commands.

The reason for this post is that if anyone is having problems with your computer locating a port..take a look in the Bios/CMOS setup and see if if it is recognized/enabled or turned on. At no time did any of the techies think of that. I just remember that this had caused me a problem once before.
Lets hope none of you have installation like I have been having.

Good Luck!
Donald
