Eric, I cannot really answer your questions. I just simply don't know. All anyone on this board can do is speculate.
In fact, this entire company has been speculative since day one. If your interested, here is my 2 cents worth...

1.) "What is the chance of a buyout?" That depends on whether another company is interested in using the products coming down the pipe; namely Alibra, Femme creme, and PE drug.

2.) "A great US marketing partner would be Abbott". A great partner would be the company that lays down the most cash on the table and will commit the most sales reps to marketing the product. Also a commitment to certain volume would also help. As of now, a partner would have to increase Muse sales 300-400% for Vivus to break even on the deal. Any firm that would enter into an agreement based on the above criteria would be taking great risk. For Vivus not to impose the above contractual obligations, Vivus would be taking great risk.

3.) "BUT IMO it still provides for VVUS the option to hook up with a potential merger candidate." I do not see why you would want Vivus to be bought out or merged. I think shareholder value will be maximized by the current course of action. As a shareholder, I would not want management to sell out for anything less than 50x estimated 2000 earnings (whatever that maybe).

4.) "The only problem with this thought is that VVUS continues to enter into "other" international agreements with partners that muddy the international channel distributions for MUSE and perhaps for Alibra too." I am not aware of any recent agreements that Vivus has entered into in the last 3 years, except with BMI, but that one washed out. Let me know if I am incorrect here.
