ZUMA and PPC widgets- Frank and all- there is a lot of stuff going on with PPC right now. IBM has a bunch of stuff going, Motorola just released the Altivec PPC chips to Apple that Apple is using for the Carbon flavored PPC workstation. The one the DOD has labeled a supercomputer, based on it's processor speed. No kidding- the fastest mac is now classed a supercomputer by DOD. Anyway, Altivec has a bunch of machine code level vector processing commands, and has some odd built-in communications stuff. I'm not really up on it, but IBM and MOT have oodles of info on PPC offerings that might make this thing really amazing. If the Altivec thing flys- the Intel folks are going to be left in the dust. BTW- the newest mac running the Altivec PPC chip benchmarks out on the order of an old CRAY 1 for certain tests... Web
