Ridiculous.

Bush lost because he didn't stand for anything and couldn't win election under his own power. He became defined by his huge tax increase, breaking his one campaign promise.

Clinton did the same by abandoning his tax cut in favor of yet another tax increase, but in Clinton's case it was a premeditated lie.

A.) The economy was not ruined, the recession lasted 7 months;
B.) Deregulation had nothing to do with it, what was important was the political interference that kept regulators from doing their job, which is the significance of the Keating Five (incidentally, most of whom were Democrats);
C.) Deregulation of various sectors has generally been a boon to the economy, since most regulation merely serves to cartelize industries in favor of large firms, excluding new entrants and working against competition, in favor of collusion.....
