Here is a weekend report on disk drive pricing last week.

Contrary to the previous week, disk drive pricing stabilized last week. Among the 130 drives sampled, 11 dropped in price and 4 increased in price. However, the drives dropping in price dropped a steep average $27 per drive while the increases averaged $9 per drive.

Over the past 4 weeks drive prices have dropped an average of 1.88%. This rate will be healthy if it can be sustained. Maxtor lead the price drops for the past 4 weeks at 3.4% followed by Quantum at 2.4% and IBM at 2.3%.

Mark,
This is very interesting-- in fact, it sends me back to the drawing board-- Z may be right after all. A Tivo/Replay architecture that clearly and easily supports Playstation 2 would be an absolute killer device. Crap, I hate being wrong.
