Intel Introduces New Microprocessors And Chipset For Mainstream PCs
Intel© 810E Chipset Targets Pentium© III Processor-Based Systems
SANTA CLARA, Calif., Sept. 27, 1999 -- Intel Corporation today introduced two new microprocessors and a chipset targeted at the mainstream performance segment of the personal computer market.

With this introduction, Intel adds two Pentium© III processors at 600 MHz and 533 MHz, each supporting the new, higher performance 133 MHz system bus.

The new chipset--the Intel© 810E--brings new features and capabilities to the computer user, including the faster system bus. The Intel 810E Chipset extends the capabilities of the Intel© 810 Chipset for Intel© Celeron? processor-based PCs into the mainstream, adding support for Pentium III processors and enhanced graphics performance.

Intel also said that it has delayed the introduction of its Intel© 820 Chipset due to platform validation issues that may result in memory errors. Intel is working to identify and validate solutions to these issues and will introduce this chipset after they have been resolved.

"With these new Pentium III processors and the accompanying 810E Chipset, Intel brings new performance levels and features to Pentium III processor-based platforms," said Louis Burns, vice president and general manager of Intel?s Platform Components Group. "The 810E Chipset offers the foundation for long-lived, next-generation platforms that take advantage of the performance and headroom of the Pentium III processor."

If AMD does not warn or pre-announce REAL SOON the news for AMD, at least, is probably better than expectations. "Only the shadow knows for sure".

<Rambus Inc. (NasdaqNM:RMBS - news) on Monday said it is working to resolve several bugs with Intel Corp. (NasdaqNM:INTC - news) and leading personal computer makers on upcoming Intel computer memory chips using Rambus technology.>

Note: *several bugs*

Even Ashok Kumar, Sharky of the Wall Street, is talking Camino platform down and saying it is not a 1999 product....

Does this rule out the 2-slot version even for benchmarks?
