pezz, not only did the US government need support for entering the war,FDR's programs to end the depression were not really working. One way to jump start an economy is to gear up for war.

I think it was clear that the Japanese were not really ready to make the attack when the quote of Admiral Yamamoto became known; " I fear we have awakened a sleeping tiger".^ ^ ^TD
