Radioactive Seal

A group of Russian scientists cashed in on their invention -- a special foam that seals in radiation in an emergency. They swapped their 20% stake in Kurchatov Research Holdings, a publicly traded technology company for a 16% stake in Eurotech Ltd., which specializes in bringing to market scientific inventions. The $12-million all-stock deal gives the U.S.-based technology holding company more control over marketing EKOR, the polymer foam designed to stop the spread of radiation from accidents like Chernobyl. After testing the foam at Ukraine's Chernobyl plant, Eurotech plans to market it in the U.S. and in Germany. Kurchatov and Eurotech agreed to equally share net profits from EKOR sales.
