btw, the WSJ reported results contrary to yours.

The Wirthlin poll found that when Americans were told what Clinton's plans were, i.e., increased spending v. what he claimed, they favored the Republican's plans for 1/3 of the surplus going to tax cuts and 2/3 going to SS and the deficit.

WP poll says the media-despised Congressional Republicans trusted as much or more than Clinton to decide what to do with the surplus:

Gee, I have never heard that reported. The Clinton truth embargo precludes that. I guess the tax cut is a salient issue after all. No wonder the media has trashed it so hard.

I'll bet if the poll asked Bush v. Clinton that Bush would be the runaway winner.
