Considering the way the market has been trading lately (!) I would put it in 2 or 3 different stocks. This is how I started when I was holding longer term, small amounts of good stocks - NEVER all in one. and it always saved my butt when the market or one of the stocks took a turn.

My picks today - (can I change them later if I think of something?)

GNET
AIRO
PPRO
SBUX (looks like it can only go up from here)
AND maybe save a little and get in for 100 shares of the charter IPO and hold on tight.

Blue, I'll give my stock pick next. First hyar's a good Ace just in case he has a dog fund he can switch over to this one with no penalty after you've nailed that 10K to a Real Internet Stock. Then here's a mutual to get his net feet even wetter, heh heh.
U did good, Pal. ResQ & Re-prog yer Bro from the Cult Of Funds (funds R safe, stocks R dangerous, etc.) isn't EZ. Bravo! When They get a mutual fund client in solid They don't want to let 'em go to stocks so easy... especially if he's been with the broker awhile & made some Dow-beating returns & broker gets plenty fee premiums & comp trips.
The MerilLnch xhhhx is their brand-newxInternetBasketFundx
just started trading last Thursday.... such start-ups almost gar-ron-teed 2 do real good in the next while with many new buyers flocking. Details R on the xmerrilllynch.comx site in news or search.
I got the xMunderxNetnetx Fund in Dec. to race my stocks against it, it's done Real Nice but My Shares have done even Better. No fees, no taxes when it's down, get splits.
Any Fund is good w/ Meril as they figure out all the taxes correctly and give complete statements, etc. - unlike many others. xhhhx is rather unique U can buy shares of any chosen security on the holdings list of 20 (Many Techriders Favorite stock are in Holdings & GNET is on that list too)
for a (extra probly) fee of .10 a share but what I don't know is whether you get to pick the moment to buy it or if it's a guessing game like mutuals are. Mutuals are a mess IMHO with the NAV coming out after the close and complex taxes & early redemption charges and fees and mystifying moves and not getting splits and all.
OK SCRATCH THIS.... MY INTERNET STOCK PICK IS NEXT....
909s,
Joanie

MSGI !!!
4 10Gs Bro can get the most shares of this one @ appx. 12. Going Long, Right? But can U give him one phone call when/how to Quack It, Blue? Sure U Can.
Gonna B demdar Blockbusta Next Time!!!!!
(Cheap Cheap Cheap Now @ appx. 12, had flown to 60 earlier rally this year, flies under the radar now but got many long-time intelligentsia as believers, in DW's stable, B to B Internet mostly, many new shares out there now from spectacular acquisitions so it's still in process of balance, has CMG Internet Incubator Venture div., has institutional investors, has GE Capital Big on BOD & Looky Who Else, has earnings, on Nasdaq National (off smallcaps) now, nicely aligned with CMGI's purchase of AdForce & ownership of AltaVista free ISP & Synergistic etc. etcs; Lookydat Proprietary Site/Software in Pegasus, Lookydat greatergood.com, just Lookydat MSGI msginet.com
ON WITH THE SHOW THIS IS IT.
(Me Loaded Up on MSGI, quacked it, grew it elsewhere, quacked that, put $ back over to this one, averaged down to increase which I just Don't Do but this one is the Exception... gotta have That Core Rule Breaker, right Blue?)

I missed all day! Problems with Earthlink's signal to Charter, but finally got it resolved. I will say, both Charer customer service and Earthlink tech support could not have been nicer and more helpful. That says a lot to me.
For my pick, same now as early in the day, GNET or CMGI for a LONG term hold. Mr. Cautious should get some more "trading" money, to put into next next generation wireless and storage, yet to be determined.
909s,
Carolyn

Frog On The Psychic Hotline

A boy frog telephones the Psychic Hotline and his Personal Psychic Advisor tells him: "You are going to meet a beautiful young girl who will want to know everything about you."
The frog is thrilled, "This is great!
Will I meet her at a party?
"No," says his Advisor, "in her biology class."
