<<Actually GTIS offered more for id, but they chose ATVI. It really isn't much of a money matter for these guys anymore,it's who they are working with that seems more important>> I didn't realize GTIS offered more....not surprising, however, that ID would go with ATVI. Here's a little more on startrek...nice preview on gamecenter, BTW....:startrek.com This fall, there are new threats to the Federation -- but this time you can be a part of the action. Activision, one of the leading international publishers, designers and distributors of interactive software will release the long anticipated game titles Star Trek: Hidden Evil, Star Trek: Voyager - Elite Force and Star Trek: Armada. These simulations offer the hottest new technologies and with Star Trek branding it's predicted that they will be top sellers in the coming months. Star Trek: Hidden Evil is a first person intuitive interfaced, fast-paced game. It is set nine months after the events of Star Trek: Insurrection and incorporates the planet Ba'ku and it's mysterious fountain of youth that was featured in the film. Players take the role of Ensign Sovok assigned to serve aboard the legendary Starship Enterprise with Captain Picard and crew. Sovok must solve puzzling mysteries while trying to stay one step ahead of the Romulans who use guile and treachery to prevent Sovok from succeeding in carrying out his orders. Combat is inevitable in this hostile scenario, but that's why they give you a phaser. You even have to learn and perfect the Vulcan Nerve Pinch to gain the upper hand. The system requirements will be Windows 95/98, P200, 32 MB RAM with a suggested retail price of $29.99 and it will be available in November. Star Trek: Armada was introduced at the E3 Toyfair in Los Angeles this past year. It received rave reactions from those individuals that could bear to wait in the long line. The game is touted to be the first real-time 3D-strategy game set in the Star Trek: The Next Generation universe. When a Starship from the future arrives warning players of a new Borg threat, resistance is futile. This scenario is loosely based on Star Trek: First Contact. Players choose to command the factions of the Federation, Klingons, Romulans or the Borg. Throughout the game players build, repair, staff and lead over 30 different types of starships waging an epic war. Yet it's not easy task, as players have to contend with Romulan deceptions, a Klingon civil war and the relentless Borg, as they assimilate anyone in their path. Told in a story format there are 26 action-packed missions that lead to a dramatic Picard-Locutus showdown. The game will offer a variety of views to choose from offering the best angle for the campaign. There are also single player missions or multi-player options including up-to-eight-player competitions over LAN or the Internet. The game is due to be released for this Christmas at a suggested retail price of $49.95. The system requirements will be a Pentium 166, Windows 95/98, 32 MB RAM. Star Trek: Voyager - Elite Force is the first game set in the Star Trek: Voyager universe. Even though it isn't due out until after the New Year rumors and excitement about the game's incorporation of the newest gaming technology abound. The game is a first-person shooter using the QUAKE III: Arena engine - "the best 3D shooter out there." The scenario pits players against numerous enemies of the Federation, including never-before-seen aliens and the malevolent Borg. What has been revealed about the animated textures, motion-captured movement and exploding walls make this a truly unique game. In the game scenario the U.S.S. Voyager has been taken over by a frightening species and only a member of the newly formed elite security force - The Hazard Team - can save the crew, the ship and the galaxy itself. Lead by Lieutenant Tuvok, players leap into action to defend the starship from assault, battle inside a derelict spacecraft, infiltrate a Borg cube and take on the ultimate colonization force - all the while facing annihilation at every turn. There are single-player and multi-player options allowing interaction with characters who offer insights and assist missions, including acting as shipmates when battling the bad guys. Players will even face moral dilemmas during their missions, for instance, will you rescue ship personnel or will you follow orders? In one mode you can play as a member of the U.S.S. Voyager crew or as an alien. The suggested retail price will be $49.95 and it will be available in the winter of 2000. System requirements have yet to be determined.
