Not specifically (maybe Dozer or TD can......) however, I did find this: ______ CIENA Corp (CIEN 36 11/16 -1 21/32) ended well off its morning high of 40 3/4 after Siemens AG announced an optical regenerator which will be part of the TransExpress Infinity line, its dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) product line... DWDM is Ciena's core business.

Re: Siemens Not that much info there and couldn't find additional info on their site. But it looks like the regenerator is in the WDM box, ie. in the network element. This would suggest it regenerates the signal at junction points along a long-haul route. JDSU's EDFA's take the place of 3Rs in the middle of long-haul networks to re-amplify the signals. They are not part of the box, but are attached as part of the fiber, pump lasers, and and various other components. Meanwhile, JDSU's announcement of the tunable laser and LiNi external modulator is important. That product will be gobbled up by customers. BD
