Hi freeus! Its been a tough summer hasn't it for these stocks. I don't short anymore, I just buy puts if I really feel like things are going down. I think AOL is going up now though, but I doubt it will be like before... remember those 20 point days for both Dell and AOL???

freeus - I've never tried shorting, but I'm interested in the mechanics. Would you answer these questions please?
1. Is there a separate "sell short" choice? On my Fidelity menu, I only find "Buy", "Buy to Cover" and "Sell"
2. If you are not shorting your own stock, is there some cash requirement, e.g., 50% of your short sale?
3. Is there a "Buy when the stock gets higher than xx" form of buy, to protect you from a runaway up, the way a stop-loss sell can protect a long position?
