France's Alcatel Agrees To Buy Genesys Telecoms Labs For $1.5 Billion

PARIS -(Dow Jones)- French telecommunications equipment group Alcatel
SA (ALA) said Tuesday that it has agreed to buy Genesys
Telecommunications Laboratories Inc. in a stock deal valued at $1.5
billion.
Genesys supplies computer telephony integration equipment and telecom
management solutions.
Alcatel is offering Genesys shareholders 1.667 Alcatel ADS for 1
Genesys share, on condition that the Genesys share price stays in a
range of between $45 and $55.
The acquisition is expected to be completed in January 2000, subject
to the expiry or termination of applicable waiting periods under
appropriate antitrust laws and approval from Genesys shareholders,
Alcatel said.
