Agco reaffirms its Argentina operations
DULUTH, Ga., Sept 27 (Reuters) - Agricultural equipment producer Agco Corp. said Monday the bankruptcy of its former distributor, Massey Ferguson Argentina S.A., would not affect its operations in that country.

Agco, the Duluth-Ga.-based parent of tractor producer Massey Ferguson, said it had purchased the Argentina distribution rights for the Massey Ferguson brand from Massey Ferguson Argentina S.A. in 1998. AGCO said it has had no business relationship with Massey Ferguson Argentina S.A. since the acquisition.

Agco, which distributes its products in 140 countries, also said it was committed to Argentina and would continue to distribute Massey Ferguson brand products through its dealer network.

Shares of Agco were up 3/8 to 11-3/16 in morning trading on the New York Stock Exchange.
