Henry,

They weren't too deep in the money. (5%-10% +/-)

I occasionally sell naked slightly in the money puts on a stock that I am interested in buying when its price is still in a grey area that prevents me from pulling the trigger.

I do this when I expect that the stock might bounce off a recent sharp volatile drop.

Sometimes the stock price minus the time premium is a price that I am comfortable with owning the shares at and it's a decent gamble that the expected bounce could produce some profit on the option trade without the shares ever getting to my target price.

When I've been wrong about the bounce and the stock fell further I've often had the shares put to me.

I recently sold DAB October 12 1/2 puts.
