oh Joana, i wanna add to your story about the van (and maybe get this thread back to #1):

My friend bought a 1969 Ford van. You have to see it to believe it: the engine is right in the middle!
It is so funny, if you pick up the table you and adjust the carb (doesn't even have fuel injection) while it is going down the road.

I think they made a law against having this much fun about 20 years ago.<G>

The low profile tires (small "height") are fine, I actually don't really think they are that aesthetic myself. The BACK tires on this van I have planned are Very Large. But the car itself appears low to the ground, low clearance, the tires and wheels are underneath the body, they don't stick out from the wheelwells. The "sticking out from the wheelwells" thing is another thing that I do not find personally appealing.

The profile of the car is not dependent on the tires and wheels, it is dependent upon the suspension of the car. Here are two examples of a car with very large back tires and a low profile:
