SEOUL - Qualcomm earned US$448.27 million in royalties from South Korean
companies between 1995 and the first half of this year, as the U.S. firm holds the original
patent for CDMA, the Ministry of Information and Communication said Tuesday.
Samsung Electronics (KSE: 05930) paid the most royalties with $263.34 million,
followed by LG Information and Communications (11650) with $110.28 million, Hyundai
Electronics (00660) $47.12 million and Maxon Electronics (09890) $5.18 million. Total
royalties paid to Qualcomm by the four companies reached $425.93 million.
